How It Works
Excel V+ is an advanced, highly versatile laser system designed primarily to target vascular conditions (like redness, rosacea, and spider veins) and pigment issues (like sun spots and brown spots).
Here is how it works:
Dual-Wavelength Technology
The Excel V+ uses two clinically proven laser wavelengths (532 nm and a 1064 nm Nd:YAG). This allows the provider to customize the treatment depending on how deep or superficial the issue is:
The 532 nm Wavelength
Ideal for treating superficial, fine concerns like tiny broken capillaries, small facial spider veins, cherry angiomas, and surface sun spots.
The 1064 nm Wavelength
Penetrates deeper into the skin to target larger or deeper blood vessels (such as leg veins) as well as diffuse redness and deeper vascular structures.
What to Expect
Before the Treatment
Consultation: Your provider will assess your skin, identify the specific vessels or pigmented spots you want to target, and calibrate the laser's wavelengths and settings for your skin type.
Preparation: You will arrive with clean skin free of makeup, lotions, or active skincare ingredients (like retinoids). Protective eyewear will be provided to shield your eyes from the laser light.
Numbing: Because the device features built-in cooling technology, topical numbing cream is usually not required for most vascular or spot treatments, though it can be applied if you are treating a very sensitive area.
During the Treatment
The Sensation: As the laser pulses, you will feel a quick sensation often compared to a rubber band snap against the skin, immediately followed by a cooling blast from the device's tip.
Duration: The procedure is very fast—depending on the size of the area being treated, a session typically takes anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.
Immediate Post-Care: You may experience mild redness, slight swelling (especially around sensitive areas like the eyes or cheeks), and a warm sensation similar to a mild sunburn for a few hours.
After the Treatment (Recovery & Healing)
Immediate Reaction: Treated spider veins or capillaries may instantly disappear, darken slightly, or turn a temporary pinkish-purple as the blood vessels collapse. Brown spots will typically darken within a few hours.
Downtime: There is virtually no social downtime. You can return to your normal daily activities immediately. Makeup can usually be applied the next day to cover any temporary discoloration.
THE HEALING PROCESS
For Redness and Veins: The treated vessels are naturally reabsorbed by your body over 2 to 4 weeks, gradually fading from view.
For Brown Spots: Pigmented spots will typically darken into micro-crusts (resembling coffee grounds) and naturally flake off gently over 5 to 7 days, revealing clearer skin underneath.
Results & Maintenance
Timeline: While some smaller vessels or sun spots vanish instantly, optimal clearing usually becomes visible within 2 to 4 weeks as the skin heals and clears the treated tissue.
Number of Sessions: While many stubborn spots or small veins improve drastically in just 1 to 2 sessions, more widespread redness, rosacea, or deeper veins may require a series of 2 to 3 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart for the best long-term clearance.
Common Treatment Areas for Excel V+
Because the Excel V+ is designed to target specific blood vessels, veins, and pigment concerns rather than a blanket surface peel, it can be precisely applied wherever those issues pop up.
The most common treatment areas include:
The Face
(The Most Popular Area)
Cheeks & Nose: Perfect for clearing broken capillaries, thread veins, and the persistent background flushing or redness associated with rosacea.
Around the Nose & Chin: A hot spot for small, stubborn spider veins and tiny angiomas (small red dot moles).
Forehead & Temples: Frequently treated for sun spots, age spots, and localized hyperpigmentation.
The Neck: Excellent for treating scattered red capillaries or fine vessels that become more visible over time due to sun exposure and aging.
The Neck and Chest (Décolletage)
The Chest (Décolletage): A primary area for clearing sun damage, brown spots, and diffused redness caused by years of UV exposure.
The Hands: Frequently used to target stubborn sun spots and age spots (often called "liver spots") on the backs of the hands.
The Hands and Body
The Legs: Used to treat small superficial leg veins (spider veins) and cherry angiomas on the thighs, calves, or ankles.
